LD Virtual Tutoring is offered exclusively online, so you can participate while enrolled in high school, college or university — anywhere in the world. We provide:

  • Learning Skills training

Individualized, One-on-One Sessions

Our tutoring plans and learning skills training are conducted in a one-on-one setting so that you get the individualized support you need. We create personalized study plan for you, based on your courses and your learning goals.

Available Worldwide Year-Round

Learning skills and course-specific tutoring services are available year-round with start dates set to correspond to your academic calendar. Learning skills sessions are also popular during the summer and school breaks, as it can be the ideal time for you to focus on developing new learning strategies.

“The online LDVT support was extremely helpful for my first year in college. I almost feel as if I learned more skills on the webcam than I did in my classes. I am now capable of confidently writing papers, outlines and organizers. I recommend this help resource to anyone who is struggling or feels as if they might struggle to keep up and meet the demands of their classes. LDVT made the huge transition from high school to college much easier!”

Tutoring Sessions

Our course-specific tutoring services are customized to meet your learning needs on a class-by-class basis. This means that for each tutoring plan you buy, we provide you with a subject expert to work with you on one course.

Work with a Subject Expert for Each Course

Each Learning Specialist is paired with you based on their subject knowledge, so the tutor you work with for an English course will not be the same tutor you work with for a Math course. You may purchase a tutoring plan for each class for which you’d like support.

Tutoring Sessions

We will meet with you each week using online video-conferencing. During our 45-minute tutoring sessions we will:

  • Follow a proactive plan for learning based on your learning needs
  • Review your class work, notes and assignments
  • Provide constructive input before you turn in your assignments
  • Help you prepare for exams
  • Adapt time management strategies

Purchase a Tutoring Plan for Each Course

Choose either the full semester (15-session) tutoring plan or the half-semester (8-session) tutoring plan for each course. We recommend the 15-session plan as it allows us to work with you throughout the semester, keeping pace with the progress of the course.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if LD Virtual Tutoring has the best tutors for me?

If you are a student who learns differently, and are a college student or college bound in a year or two, we can help you. We will provide you with a learning specialist who will create a custom learning plan that helps you reach your goals.

Our tutors (also known as learning specialists) have expertise in working with students who learn differently. In addition to being a subject expert, your tutor will incorporate learning strategies and study skills (including time management, organizational skills, assistive technology apps and test taking strategies) into your regular sessions. We work with high school juniors and seniors, gap year students, and all levels of college students.

Do I need to provide documentation of a learning disability to work with you?

No, although our specialization is in supporting individuals who learn differently, formal documentation of learning disability is not required. We encourage you to share your reports with us if you have them as it enables us to better personalize our support for you. If you learn differently or have ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia or math difficulty, we can help you.

How does LD Virtual Tutoring work?
You receive one-on-one online tutoring with one of our learning specialists using Zoom, a face-to-face online platform. Virtual tutoring allows you to meet with your learning specialist wherever you are enrolled in school, as long as you have an Internet connection and a device (computer, laptop or tablet) with a camera and a microphone.
When can I start?
Learning skills sessions and tutoring services are available year-round, for the fall, spring and summer semesters. Our Summer Learning Skills sessions offer students a convenient and self-paced way to improve key areas of need before the start of fall classes.
How many tutoring sessions will I need?
You will need one tutoring plan of 15 or 8 sessions for each course you want tutoring support for. Since learning specialists are selected based on their subject knowledge, tutoring for more than one course cannot be combined within each plan. Sign up for the number of plans you need – one plan per course.
What is the advantage of the 15-session tutoring plan over the 8-session plan?
For each course you seek support, we recommend the 15-session full semester tutoring program to ensure that you are adequately supported at the beginning, middle and end of the course. This provides the additional benefit of being able to support you with organizational, planning and other learning strategies and study skills that you will benefit from and be able to apply to other courses. However, you can begin with the eight tutoring sessions per class.
How do I arrange for LD Virtual Tutoring?

It’s easy. Email us, or call Sharon Fleischer, Director of LD Virtual Tutoring at 201-692-2298.

Learning Skills Program: What is the advantage of the 8-session plan versus the 4-session plan?
We can incorporate and practice more learning strategies in the 8-session plan.
Do I need any special equipment or software to participate?

To work with your tutor you will need a:

  • A reliable Internet connection, and
  • A computer, laptop or tablet – that has a camera and microphone. We use ZOOM, a free video-conferencing platform to work face-to-face with you.
  • A quiet place where we can talk without distractions (Coffee shops and other public settings are not conducive to one-on-one tutoring)

That is all you need to participate.

What do I do if I want/need more information?

Email us, or call Sharon Fleischer, Director of LD Virtual Tutoring at 201-692-2298.

How many Tutoring Plans should I purchase?
Each tutoring plan provides tutoring for one course. You may purchase a tutoring plan for each course you are taking.

“Scheduling of sessions is flexible so if you want to have a job, or participate in extracurriculars or athletics, you can do so and still do well in your classes.”
